Katy – LMT
Katy is originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada but grew up all over western and north shore of Massachusetts. She received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Salem State College in Salem, M.A. Always active since a young age in dance, soccer, running, kickboxing, and a genuine thrillist, Katy realized the many injuries that came with being active as an athlete but also the struggles of daily stress and work case load can do over the years to our body mechanics. She always had a strong interest in massage therapy at a very young age and finally took that passion after college to enroll at The Palmer Institute of Massage and Bodywork in Salem, Massachusetts. Here she became a licensed massage therapist and studied modalities of swedish, deep tissue, sports massage, shiastu, active and passive stretching, hot stone, and pregnancy massage. Her experience led to working with chiropractors, physical therapists, fitness centers, and at spa settings where she even became lead therapist and trainer for an Aveda spa.
Always eager to continue her studies and take on challenges, she is currently also focusing on receiving her certification as a ASCM Clinical Exercise Specialist, as well as focusing her continued interest in orthopedic massage therapy and kinesiology taping certification.
Working with patients, Katy uses her ability of intuition and listening skills to tailor the massage experience to their unique preferences and needs, whether an athlete or a patient with chronic pain from daily life stresses. Her goals for each client is to not only relax and reduce their risk for injury and to restore balance to their bodies through each massage but to also educate each patient on how they can use certain techniques to aide them in their goal for healing.
Katy currently resides in Waltham, MA where she works teaching kickboxing classes and stays active with her hobbies of traveling, dance, obstacle races, marathon races, hiking, kickboxing and visiting her family back in Canada. She loves adventure and you can often see up for anything from sky diving or slip lining through the mountains!
