How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture aims to regulate the energy, or Qi, flowing in channels called meridians which function in a similar way to blood vessels and nerves. Qi is considered to be the vital force motivating life. Thus the careful insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body, known through thousands of years of practice to be effective in the treatment of specific diseases, are used to balance energy flow and thus restore Qi flow and re-establish harmony in the body. Doing so sets the stage for the body to repair itself and maintain optimum health.
